TELEMATIK/3000 is a software package which runs on any HP3000
Computer under the operating system MPE. It enables the computer
to transmit and receive messages via dial services the
HP3000 is connected to by special hardware devices.
The basic package contains the dial service TELEX, TELETEX
and FACSIMILE as options. Depending on the needs, the HP3000 can
be connected to any combination of the desired transmission services.
There may be a maximum of 24 dial service lines connected to one
HP3000. For the connection to the TELEX network, a telex interface
device TI07 is being used, for the connection to the TELETEX network
a teletex controller TPC-100, and for the connection to the FACSIMILE
service, a plug-in card for an extra PC is necessary. To enter
messages, and to transmit them, any VPLUS/3000 compatible
HP terminal or a PC connected to the HP3000 computer running a
terminal emulation program can be used.
The access rights to the user interface of TELEMATIK/3000 and
the definition of user authorization are being made by a configuration
program. The messages can be entered by all users at the same
time, and transmitted at the same time via the same or a different
line by a job running on the system. The transmission and printout
of the messages will also be managed by the same job. If a direct
connection to the TELETEX network consists, a TELETEX capable
printer (HP LaserJet PLUS, HP2235, HP2934, or Philips GP300 printer)
has to be connected to the computer for a printout adjusted to
the format and the character set.
FACSIMILE printouts will also be made on a predefined printer.
