Screen masks with fields to be filled out with the desired parameters as well as predefined function keys offer the TELEMATIK/3000 user the possibility of easy handling the system. There is also an online help system installed.
Telex, Teletex and Telefax message texts can be created and edited with a full-screen-editor integrated in the system. Additionally, the word processors HPSlate and HPWord are supported. This offers the advantage for HP3000 users without direct access to TELEMATIK/3000 to be able to create messages. And of course ASCII texts can also be transmitted.
A message text created with TELEMATIK/3000 can be printed
before transmission to be checked or approved.
Messages can be entered and also transmitted directly from the HPDeskManager using also the integrated help system. Incoming messages can be addressed to a known HPDeskManager user. These messages are directly routed into this user's inbox.
TELEMATIK/3000 contains an interface to transmit messages created with third-party applications. It is also possible to access messages from third-party applications for further processing.
Texts created with HPSlate or HPWord will automatically be converted to ASCII messages by TELEMATIK/3000 for transmission.
By defining a distribution list for a group, a message is delivered to every member of the group while only addressing the message to this distribution list.
TELEMATIK/3000 has included an Address Book. By sending a message to a Nickname from this Address Book, TELEMATIK/3000 sends the message to the corresponding number. This Address Book can be maintained with a self-lerning feature using previous connections.
Redialling is done automatically by the background programs. After expiration of the parameterized redialling counts a user may reactivate and/or change the destination addresses.
Sent or received messages can be printed from the log.
The TELEX Interface TI07 may either be connected to the TELEX network via a conventional telex writer (being connected to the TELEX network), or the TELEX Interface TI07 may be connected directly to the TELEX network. In either case, all received or sent messages may be printed directly by the TELEX Interface.
With a defined terminal, the monitor program allows to watch the activities on the communication networks (telex, teletex, fax) as well as the direct connection to a TELEX-line from this terminal. In this mode, this terminal acts like a conventional telex writer.
For sending telefax-messages, one or more PCs are connected to the HP3000. These PCs act as telefax-servers and are equipped with a telefax-plug-in-card.
